Understanding the severity of truck accidents

Despite the fact that the northeast United States got hit with a monumental storm a few days ago, spring, in theory, is still right around the corner. While the winter months brings with it its own set of hazards such as ice and wintery weather, as we enter into spring, we are given a whole new set of hazards to contend with when we get behind the wheel.

Spring often means more people on the roads, motorcyclists, bicyclists out and about, pedestrians on the streets and just more traffic in general than the cold winter which keeps many people indoors. It should come as no surprise that, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, or NHTSA, the leading cause of personal injury comes from car accidents.

While unforeseen and unavoidable accidents can happen at any time, unfortunately many of the accidents in the United States, including Beckley and Raleigh County, West Virginia, are the result of driver negligence. Whether it is someone on their cellphone, texting or even on social media while driving, with an increase in smartphones has come an increase in distracted driving, which can lead to serious, catastrophic and even deadly injuries for victims involved in an accident.

If you are someone you know has been involved in a car accident, it is important to understand your rights and the possibility that you may be entitled to compensation. This may cover not only medical expenses and rehabilitation costs, but pain and suffering and lost wages as well.
