Investigation ongoing for two-car crash injuring one

When a driver in West Virginia is negligent, distracted or reckless, they put several lives at risks. Although some accidents could be deemed simply an accident, several automobile accidents are a result of a negligent act of a driver. Such negligence could easily lead to a collision that could involve numerous vehicles and victims. Moreover, the unsuspecting victims could suffer serious injuries or even death due to the actions of the driver at fault.

Authorities in Shanks recently responded to a two-vehicle crash on U.S. 50. According to preliminary reports, the two vehicles collided around 12:15 p.m. Emergency crews transported one of the drivers to the hospital for medical treatment. Reports indicated that the injuries suffered were non-life threatening.

The details of the crash are not known at this time, but it is clear that only one driver was injured and there were no passengers in either vehicle. Investigation is still ongoing, and, once completed, officers should be able to determine cause and assign liability.

If the accident was a result of the negligence of one of the drivers, he or she could face civil penalties. This is especially true if the driver at fault caused injuries and damages. The injured party could file a personal injury claim in order to recover compensation to help with the costs associated with the accident. The monetary award could cover expenses such as medical bills, rehabilitation, lost wages and other associated damages.

Understanding the cause of an accident is important for several reasons. Although it is crucial to understand the cause of a car accident in order to assign liability, it is also useful to help avoid future similar accidents. Furthermore, the investigation process could aid those who suffered injuries in the incident. The information gathered during the investigation could help support a civil action and help the injured individual recover compensation for his or her losses and damages.
