Multi-vehicle crash injures four in West Virginia

During certain times of the day, traffic can be very intense in West Virginia. During rush hour, many travelers seek to reach their destinations in a timely matter, but serious traffic, construction, detours and car accidents could extend their travel time. Furthermore, if a driver fails to properly pay attention when the road is congested, they could collide with a vehicle and even cause a chain reaction accident. This will include several vehicles, numerous victims and could result in serious injuries and severe damages.

Interstate 68 was closed for over an hour around 5:30 p.m. on May 15 following a multi-vehicle collision involving seven automobiles. The accident occurred in the eastbound lanes and began when a driver lost control of their vehicle. A passenger in that vehicle exited their car and was struck by another vehicle that lost control. This caused five other vehicles to get involved in the crash.

Emergency crews arrived at the scene and assisted everyone involved. Four people were transported to the hospital for medical treatment. An investigation was still ongoing at last report, but authorities believed that heavy rain and speed contributed to the accident.

Following the investigation, authorities should be able to establish cause and attribute fault. A driver liable for a multiple car accident could be required to pay damages. An injured party could file a personal injury claim in order to recover compensation. Financial hardships often occur to victims following a serious automobile crash. An injured party might require medical attention, rehabilitation and other needs. This could result in numerous bills. A monetary award from a civil claim could alleviate these expenses.

Following a multi-vehicle collision, drivers should ensure a full investigation is conducted. The details of the accident will help establish fault. If a negligent driver is found to be at fault, an injured party should understand what options they have and whether they could file a cause of action. This will help them ease any financial issues associated with the crash such as medical bills, lost wages and pain and suffering.
