Icy and snow-covered roads cause many crashes in West Virginia

Snow and ice covered roads create major hazards for drivers, which could lead to a serious accident. Furthermore, major roads could still be filled with vehicles even when the weather is bad. This could lead to serious multi-vehicle collisions involving injuries, damage and even fatalities.

The recent heavy snowfall in West Virginia has created dangerous road conditions for numerous drivers. Due to the weather, hundreds of car accidents were reported. There were more than 40 car accidents reported in South Charleston alone.

In order to address the icy and dangerous conditions, road crews were constantly spreading salt on the roadways. Despite their efforts, this did not prevent a fatal crash from occurring, which caused the driver of a tractor-trailer to lose their life. It was not clear if this was a single vehicle accident or if more automobiles were involved in this particular crash. As a result of this crash, diesel fuel leaked into the river, which caused workers from the state's environmental protection agency to work to aid that situation.

Although the roads were a mess and filled with hundreds of accidents across the state, it was not reported how many were injured or killed as a result of these numerous collisions. When a person is injured or affected in a multi-vehicle crash, it is important to note and write down all the details in the incident. This could help determine cause in the crash.

When icy or snow-covered roads cause an accident, a diver could still be negligent and cause a crash. If a car is traveling too fast or makes an unsafe turn or lane change, they could be at fault for a serious collision involving numerous vehicles. Those injured in the incident could file a personal injury claim to recover compensation.

Following a serious accident, those affected should be aware of the possible courses of action. An injured party could file a cause of action to cover expenses associated with the accident and alleviate their financial hardships.
