Three injured in two-car accident in West Virginia

It is not uncommon for roads to close when an accident occurs. Drivers in West Virginia might have to detour around a major automobile collision or multi-vehicle crash. Although this might be frustrating for some drivers, it, not only protects those involved in the crash, but it also reduces the chances of others getting involved due to hazards on the road. Road closures allow for emergency crews to properly clear the site, provide medical care to those injured and for investigation to be properly conducted.

A portion of Sissonville Drive was closed following a two-car accident in Guthrie. According to preliminary reports, the crash happened around 1 p.m. when a car crossed the centerline and collided head-on with a SUV.

The driver of the SUV and two older women were transported to the hospital for the injuries they suffered. Emergency crews remained at the scene for around 40 minutes in order to clear the scene of any debris and hazards. The current status of the three injured was not reported at this time.

Investigation is still ongoing and it is not clear at this time what caused the vehicle to cross the centerline. It was not reported if any citations were issued. Following investigation, fault and liability could be determined. A driver at fault in a car accident could be liable for the resulting injuries and damages.

A person injured in a car crash could file a personal injury claim against the driver at fault. This could result in compensation being awarded, which could be used to cover the expenses associated with the accident such as medical bills, rehabilitation, damages and pain and suffering.

Those involved in a car wreck or affected by one should understand their options and rights. It might be appropriate to file for compensation especially if they are dealing with financial burdens associated with the accident.
