Fatal West Virginia accident still under investigation

Residents in West Virginia take to the road on a daily basis to get to and from their destinations. Whether they are on their way to work, school or to the store, traveling on the roadways could present various risks and dangers. The road is the stage for car accidents everyday, and often a negligent or distracted driver will cause them. Whether they are speeding or texting while driving, a distraction of even the smallest form could result in a fatal car crash.

Authorities in Mercer County responded to a two-car crash that occurred near the West Virginia and Virginia boarder. The accident happened on Bruch Fork Road around 1:00 a.m. According to preliminary reports, the crash left a person entrapped in their vehicle.

After emergency crews responded to the accident, one person was pronounced dead. Crewmembers remained at the scene for about two hours in order to investigate the accident. At this time, authorities have not determined the cause of the accident. Once the investigation is complete, cause, fault and liability could be attributed.

When a driver causes a fatal accident, the loved ones of the deceased could file a wrongful death claim against them. This could result in a monetary award being recovered and used to alleviate any financial burdens that resulted from the crash. Compensation is often used to cover the costs of medical bills, funeral expense, damages and lost wages.

The loss of a loved one can be a difficult and challenging event to go through. It is important that the friends and family members of the deceased do what is necessary to help them cope with the death. In some instances, this might require understanding how to file for compensation. Alleviating financial hardships from the accident could help the healing process.
