Two-vehicle West Virginia accident injures several

Residents in West Virginia understand the importance of road safety. When it comes to road safety this means double checking the maintenance of a vehicle, ensuring a seatbelt is properly worn, looking both ways at an intersection and double checking mirrors and blind spots before changing lanes. A driver who fails to follow the rules of the road or is negligent due to distracting activities such as texting while driving, could cause a car accident. Those affected by a negligent driver might have a cause of action to recover compensation for the damages and injuries associated with the accident.

Authorities in Kearneysville suspect that a negligent driver might have caused a two-car accident that left several victims injured. According to the West Virginia State Police, the automobile collision occurred around 6 p.m. at the intersection of Charles Town Road and Shockey Memorial Boulevard.

Preliminary reports indicate that one of the vehicles was pulling out from the intersection when the crash happened with the second vehicle that was traveling westbound on Charles Town Road. The emergency crewmembers that responded to the crash indicated that several people were injured in the accident and one was believed to be pregnant.

Investigation is ongoing and police officers have yet to confirm the cause of the accident even though they have made speculations. Once the investigation is complete there will be more information to determine fault and liability. A negligent driver who causes an accident could face civil liabilities for the injuries and damages they cause. Those injured could file a personal injury claim in order to recover the expenses associated with the accident. Serious injuries often result in numerous medical bills, and compensation could help cover those costs.

Not all accidents are avoidable, but drivers can avoid being negligent or distracted. A victim of a negligent or distracted driver might have a cause of action for compensation. Those unsure of their options should seek guidance form a qualified professional to assist them with the process.
