Two-car accident in Charleston injures one

Coping with the loss of a loved one or caring for an injured loved one is often a very difficult situation. The pain and emotions associated with an accident are often hard realities to face. People severely injured in accidents may not be able to fully recover and their futures might be limited. A distracted driver or a negligent or drunk driver on the roadway can create hazardous situations, which often lead to serious automobile collisions.

Authorities in Charleston were recently called to an early morning collision that involved two vehicles. The accident occurred on Interstate 64 near the Nitro exit and happened just before 7 a.m. Preliminary reports indicate that the car accident happened in the westbound lanes of the interstate and caused the interstate to be shut down for a short period of time.

Emergency crews that responded to the crash reported that one person was injured and was transported to the hospital for the treatment of her minor injuries. It is not clear at this time how the accident occurred and remains under investigation. Authorities will look into whether a driver was negligent and caused the incident. If that is the case, the driver could be cited and could also face civil liabilities. If the injured party was not at fault, they could file a personal injury suit to recover expenses to cover the cost of medical bills, damages and pain and suffering.

Recovering after an accident can be lengthy and costly. Not only can people suffer physical injuries and damages to their vehicles, but they might be emotional and mentally hurt as well. Those affected by a negligent driver should seek to understand their options when it comes to recovery and compensation.
