Driver blows through stop sign, causes serious accident

Most people have experienced a time in their life where they were running late and in a rush. When that happens, people start to cut corners in order to save a few seconds. A driver who is running late may have the urge to drive a little faster, speed through a changing light or not make a complete stop at a stop sign. These actions could ultimately lead to the driver getting pulled over and ticketed, which will take far longer than the time saved. Furthermore, these negligent acts could cause a serious accident.

Local authorities are still investigating a Taylor County car accident. The recent crash involved a jeep and a truck and occurred around 7 p.m. According to preliminary reports, when the jeep turned off of Valley Falls Road and onto Route 50, the driver failed to stop at the stop sign. This resulted in the jeep crashing into a truck.

When emergency crews arrived at the scene, they assessed the people involved the collision. The front passenger of the jeep was thrown from the vehicle. He suffered injuries and was flown to the hospital. Another passenger in the jeep also suffered injuries and was transported to the hospital. The man and woman in the truck both suffered injuries and were transported to the hospital for treatment.

The two-vehicle collision is still under investigation but authorities stated that the driver of the jeep could face charges. In addition to potential criminal charges, the driver may also encounter civil liabilities. Those injured in the crash could file a personal injury claim. Such a claim could result in compensation to the injured parties to cover any expenses that resulted in the accident such as medical bills, damages, lost wages and pain and suffering.

A person injured by a negligent driver may not only suffer physical injuries but emotional damage as well from the traumatic event. In addition, an injured party might be required to take off time from work to recover properly. This creates severe financial burdens and filing a suit for compensation may be the only way to cover the financial setback.
