Local West Virginia man raises awareness for motorcyclists

Residents of West Virginia know that when the temperature increases and the spring and summer months near, more and more motorcyclists can be seen on the roadways. The increasing numbers of motorcycles on the road also increases the chances of motorcycle accidents. When a collision occurs between a motorcyclist and another vehicle, the chances of the motorcyclist suffering injuries is high. These types of accidents usually end tragically with severe damage, serious injuries and even fatalities.

The state of West Virginia has had residents that spread this message in the past and who continue to warn motorists to be aware of motorcyclist on the road. For example, a local Beckley man has been raising awareness after his nephew was killed in a motorcycle accident a few years ago. The driver that struck and killed his nephew stated that she just did not see him. By raising awareness, drivers will hopefully be more cautious and on the lookout for these small vehicles on the road.

When motorcyclists are involved in an accident, they could be seriously injured or killed. When this occurs, they could file a personal injury suit or their family could file a wrongful death claims. The purpose behind these suits is to gain compensation to pay for the expenses incurred from the accident such as medical bills, funeral costs, pain and suffering, lost wages and other damages.

It is important that drivers follow the rules of the road and remain alert. Drivers should watch their speeds, check their mirrors before changing lanes and avoid texting while driving to ensure they see all motorcyclists.
