Two-car collision in Rockport results in one fatality

The size and magnitude of an accident can range and is often dependent on what type of accident it is. A car accident could involve only vehicles, but also could include much damage to nearby signs, poles, houses and structures. The severity of a crash is not only determined by the size of the accident site, but also the intensity of the collision. Accidents that involve fast-moving vehicles are more likely to result in serious injuries and fatalities.

A two-car collision recently occurred in Rockport that claimed the life of one driver. The accident occurred when a Ford F-150 that was traveling southbound swerved into the northbound lane and struck a Chevrolet S-10 head-on. The intensity of the collision caused the S-10 to crash into a nearby house, creating a hole in the left side of the house. Emergency crews responded to the incident and transported both drivers to the hospital. The driver of the S-10 did not survive the injuries that he sustained from the collision. It was originally reported that both drivers died in the incident, but in fact, the driver of the F-150 received medical treatment and was released from the hospital.

Police are still investigating the accident. The cause of the collision has not been determined at this time, but authorities stated that charges will be filed with regard to this incident. An accident like this that results in injuries or fatalities can cause a financial burden for the loved ones of the deceased. Survivors of the accident victim may be able to file a wrongful death suit in order to receive compensation that could cover the cost incurred by the accident. Medical bills, lost wages, funeral costs and pain and suffering all are types of damages that could be covered by the awarded compensation.

A fatal car crash does not only result in a tragedy, but it also can cause severe damages to property. It is crucial that drivers watch their speeds, reduce their speeds when driving in inclement weather and be aware of other hazards on the road.
