Woman killed in a 5-vehicle car accident

Residents of West Virginia witness various types of vehicles traveling on major roads. Car accidents can occur in times of high traffic as well as at times when there is little or no traffic on the road. The disparity of vehicle sizes not only makes it hard to see smaller automobiles in blind spots but also impacts and reduces the stopping time for the larger automobiles. A single or double car accident can often turn into a multiple vehicle accident due to speeds and distractions.

Recently, a five-vehicle crash occurred on a major road in Pennsylvania. Local police and emergency crews were dispatched to the scene. The wreck occurred when a truck that was carrying gravel grazed a stone wall and landed on its side. A car traveling near the truck then became airborne. The car struck several other vehicles before landing on its roof. The driver of this vehicle was found dead at the scene as a result of head and brain injuries. No other injuries were reported.

Police are still investigating this accident. They are looking at speed, wet weather and unsafe passing as possible causes.

If the accident is determined to be caused by another driver's negligence, family members of the deceased woman may file a wrongful death claim. The damages from the suit would assist them with the cost of the funeral, medical expenses and lost wages.

Car accidents can happen just as quickly as they can be prevented. Drivers should always watch their speed, follow posted signs and traffic signals, use their mirrors when passing and changing lanes and reduce speeds for any hazardous weather.
