Motorcyclist gets hurt in accident in West Virginia

Inattentive driving and speeding are huge concerns for the West Virginia State Police and officers all over the nation. Better control of these factors could lower the risk of a motorcycle accident on the road. Motorcycle accidents can often result in catastrophic injuries or fatalities. For instance, when a bike is up against a semi-truck, it can almost be certain that the motorcycle driver will sustain injuries.

In recent news, an accident occurred between a motorcycle and a pickup truck. The driver of the motorcycle lost control and caused the bike to slide underneath the truck. The accident resulted in injuries that were serious enough to warrant a helicopter ride to the hospital.

Officers were able to confirm that the driver of the motorcycle was coming around a curve when he approached the pickup truck. At that point, the truck was turning into a store. To avoid a collision, the rider tried to stop his motorcycle but instead ended up losing control of the bike.

The injuries that follow a motorcycle collision can result in much needed medical attention and rehabilitation. Recovery can take time and could keep a person in the hospital for days and out of work for weeks. A personal injury suit could assist with the costs of medical bills, rehabilitation, lost wages and pain and suffering.

Not all accidents can be prevented, but certain factors or safety measures could play a significant role in reducing collisions and resulting injuries. Being attentive of displayed signs and following posted speed limits could help ensure safer roads. Slowing down for road conditions could also help keep drivers and passengers out of an accident.
