The fall months can cause trouble on the road

As one of our West Virginia readers, you know that there is nothing more beautiful than your home state during the fall months.

You should also remember something else: Driving during this time of the year brings forth a variety of unique challenges. You need to change your approach to improve your overall level of safety.

Here are some of the many challenges that come about on the road during the fall months:

  • Back to school traffic. Now that school is back in session, there are more vehicles on the road. This includes school buses and parents taking their children to and from school.
  • Heavy rain. Don't be surprised if heavy rain moves into the area, often without much of a notice.
  • Leaves. When leaves build up on the road, it can make it difficult for vehicles to maintain traction.
  • Heavy fog. This can happen at any time of the day, but it's most common in the morning hours.
  • Deer. During the fall months, deer are more likely to make their way onto the roadways.
  • Sun glare. Although temperatures are cooling off, sun glare remains a major problem for drivers.

These are just a few of the many issues you should think about when driving during the fall months.

While you are doing your best to remain safe, other drivers may not think twice about changing their ways. This can put you in a compromising position.

If you are part of a car accident caused by another driver, make sure you receive immediate medical attention. From there, learn more about the cause of the crash and your legal rights. You want to take the steps necessary to receive compensation for your injuries and other damages.
