Two-car crash in West Virginia caused by car running a red light

Motorists in West Virginia and elsewhere are well aware that rules and regulations on the roadway have been established to increase the safety for travelers and reduce collisions. While most drivers follow the rules of the road, the failure to abide by these rules could lead to an unfortunate car crash. Whether it is a simple fender bender or a serious car collision, victims of a car accident could suffer tremendously.

Authorities in Cabell County recently responded to a two-vehicle crash. Reports indicate that the crash occurred at the intersection of U.S. 60 and Interstate 64. When emergency crews arrived to the scene of the accident, two victims were transported to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries. It is not clear which vehicle the victims came from.

Preliminary reports suggest that the accident happened just after 4:00 p.m. when the driver of a white Dodge Durango traveled through a red light as it was turning into a commercial plaza. During this maneuver, the Durango was struck on its side by a vehicle going eastbound. Police indicate that this driver had a green light. A third vehicle, an 84 Lumber van, which was stopped at the red light, was struck after the initial two-car collision.

Investigation is still ongoing, and once completed, authorities will be able to ascertain the exact cause and liability of the crash. When a negligent driver causes a crash, he or she could be held responsible for the injuries, damages and losses caused by the crash. A personal injury claim could help a victim pursue compensation for their losses.
