Patients at local hearth clinic exposed to HIV and hepatitis

Were you a patient at Raleigh Heart Clinic between March 1, 2012, and March 27, 2015? If so, you may have been exposed to HIV, hepatitis B or hepatitis C.

How did this happen?

Investigations by the Bureau for Public Health, Office of Epidemiology and Prevention Services, CDC and the Beckley-Raleigh County Health Department are still underway, but so far no specific mode of contamination or transmission has been identified. However, 11 patients who had stress tests at the clinic have been diagnosed with Hepatitis leading medical professionals to believe the medicine injected into patients via I1 may have been contaminated.

What should I do?

If you were one of the more than 2,300 people who visited Raleigh Heart Clinic between March 1, 2012, and March 27, 2015, you can expect to receive a letter in the mail advising you to go to your doctor for testing immediately. Hepatitis and HIV are highly spreadable diseases that can be in your system for years before exhibiting any symptoms.

It is extremely important to get tested so you may either begin treatment or rule out a positive diagnosis.

What are my legal rights?

If you do test positive for hepatitis or HIV, you have legal rights. A class action lawsuit was recently filed against the Raleigh Heart Clinic by our law firm. If you received a letter stating you were exposed to HIV and hepatitis, contact us for legal assistance.
