Authorities arrest driver for multi-car crash

There are many causes and reasons for accidents on the roadways in West Virginia and all across the nation that, unfortunately, occur on a daily basis. In many cases, a driver fails to uphold their duty of care while behind the wheel of the vehicle. Whether the driver is negligent, reckless, distracted or intoxicated, these actions cause many hazards on the road and increase the chances of a serious collision.

Authorities in West Virginia recently arrested a woman from Beckley for a multi-vehicle collision that occurred back in July of this year. According to preliminary reports, the accident stemmed from the woman's alleged attack on an elderly man. Apparently, the 45-year-old female stole the elderly man's vehicle, fled the police after a traffic stop and ran a red light. These acts resulted in a multi-vehicle crash that involved several injuries.

She was originally charged with malicious wounding, but police now claim that the woman was driving under the influence. She now faces charges that include fleeing the police and driving under the influence causing bodily harm, as well as malicious wounding.

Reports indicate that the female driver struck two vehicles, injuring six individuals in those vehicles. All of the victims were transported to the hospital for medical treatment.

Following an accident caused by a negligent or intoxicated driver in West Virginia, the individuals harmed in the crash may have possible legal recourses. A personal injury claim could help the injured victims recover compensation for losses and damages caused by the driver at fault.
