Tracy Morgan makes progress in his recovery from brain injury

Being involved in a serious accident can be a traumatic experience for both accident victims and their loved ones. Suffering a head trauma in a motor vehicle accident could be grave, causing much need for medical intervention and a lengthy recovery. Additionally, even after going through a traumatic brain injury recovery process, the victim may still battle with issues and disabilities, making it difficult to return to pre-accident life.

Most residents of West Virginia are aware of the serious accident comedian Tracy Morgan was involved in last year. Since the collision, which occurred in June of 2014 and left him in a coma, doctors have described the current status of Morgan's recovery as a "miracle." Morgan suffered a brain injury in the accident and has since then been in rehabilitation. While medical professionals believed that he would eventually make a recovery from the serious injury, they did not anticipate the speed of the recovery.

Recently, Tracy took to twitter to announce that he would be returning home, which meant that he was scheduled to host Saturday Night Live, the show that launched his career, in October. While Morgan has made great strides with his recovery, he still has a long road ahead of him. Following the collision caused by a truck driver who was operating on 28 hours without any sleep, Morgan suffered several broken bones and a traumatic brain injury.

Initially, Morgan was described as being in bad shape, dealing with several cognitive problems. He had memory issues, was agitated at times, wasn't able to stand on his own and could not do all basic tasks by himself. Now, Morgan is living with his family, he is able to drive and he is able to care for himself on his own. Doctors note that not everyone is able to recover this much and this fast.

Suffering a traumatic brain injury often means a lengthy recovery and rehabilitation process. While some victims are able to recover from this type of injury, that is not the case for all victims. The process is long and requires much medical treatment, which can be costly. It is important to understand if another party is at fault and responsible for this injury. If that is the case, victims could take steps, such as filing a personal injury claim, to attempt to recover compensation from a negligent party.
