Truck accidents and common causes

Drivers in West Virginia share the roadways with all types of vehicles. Whether a car is traveling near a motorcyclist or a semi-truck, the same concerns and attention should be paid. When a driver of any type of vehicle is not cautious or is not properly paying attention, thus breaching their duty of care, a serious accident could occur.

When a truck accident occurs, it is often thought that the trucking company or a negligent truck driver will be held liable. While either or both of these parties could be to blame in a truck crash, other parties could be the cause of a truck accident.

In many truck collisions that involve a large commercial truck and a passenger vehicle, it is often the passenger vehicle that is to blame. Drivers of cars are often ignorant or a truck's performance and ability to make certain maneuvers such as backing up. Moreover, some drivers fail to note the limited visibility of truck drivers.

Common unsafe acts by a passenger vehicle driver that result in a truck accident often include actions such as traveling in blind spots, making abrupt lane changes in front of a truck, making a left turn in front of an oncoming truck, driving between two large trucks and passing a truck that is being blown out of position by the wind.

Negligence by truck drivers and truck companies are also common causes of truck accidents. This often includes inadequate training, overloaded vehicles, a system that encourages faster vehicle speeds and more driving hours, fatigued driving, speeding and inattentiveness.

When a truck accident occurs, it is important that all parties involved in the crash take the proper steps to understand the cause of the incident. This could help hold the party or multiple parties responsible. A thorough investigation of the cause could help injured parties in his or her action recover compensation for the injuries and damages suffered in the incident.
