Fatal rear-end motorcycle crash on West Virginia 2

Everyday, motorists are faced with potential dangers and hazards on the roadway. Motorcyclists often face more severe dangers due to their small size, which often results in these vehicles going undetected by an inattentive driver. Because of this, serious and even fatal collisions could ensue.

West Virginia authorities were recently dispatched to a multi-vehicle collision involving three motorcycles, two pickup trucks and a parked car on W.Va. 2 around 12:40 p.m. According to preliminary reports, the accident occurred when the motorcyclists slowed down to turn off of the road.

A truck traveling behind the motorcycles struck the bikers. As a result of this collision, a second pickup truck had to swerve to avoid crashing into the initial collision. This maneuver caused the truck to cross the centerline and crash into a parked vehicle.

Emergency crews responded to the crash and reported that four individuals were transported to the hospital. No injuries were reported to those inside of the parked car. According to authorities, the rear-end motorcycle crash resulted in two deaths. Investigation is still ongoing and no charges have been filed at this time.

In the event of a fatal motorcycle accident, the responsible party could face criminal and civil penalties. The loved ones of the deceased could file a wrongful death claim in order to collection compensation for the losses and damages arising from the incident.

The negligence or inattention of a driver could lead to a serious collision involving multiple vehicles. In addition, the crash could have tragic results, impacting loved ones of the accident victims. Those harmed by a fatal motorcycle crash should understand the rights afforded to them so he or she can take appropriate action.
