Multi-car crash in West Virginia kills 1, injures 2

The winter months bring winter weather and the holiday season. Residents in West Virginia note an increase in travel around this time, which causes a greater concern for automobile crashes. Whether it is due to inclement weather such as snow and ice or is due to heavy traffic, these factors could lead to a multi-vehicle collision as well as numerous victims suffering serious and even fatal injuries.

West Virginia State Police and the Preston County Sheriff's Department recently responded to a fatal accident on Interstate 68. According to preliminary reports, the accident occurred around 9 p.m. near mile marker 17. Authorities stated that a total of seven vehicles were involved in the crash and a total of 13 people were involved.

When emergency crews arrived at the scene, one person was reported dead at the scene while two other were injured. Those injured were transported to the hospital for medical treatment. Their current conditions were not reported at this time. The investigation is still ongoing and police have not reported a suspected cause of the crash.

When the investigation is complete, authorities should have a clearer idea of what happened. One of the party or parties involved in the crash could be liable for the deaths and injuries caused by the accident. The victims and their loved ones could file civil actions such as a personal injury suit or a wrongful death claim. This not only could hold the party at fault liable for the losses and damages associated with the crash, it could result in compensation to cover expenses such as medical bills, funeral costs, lost wages and other damages.

A serious or fatal accident could be severely life-impacting for victims and their loved ones. This is why it is crucial for them to understand their legal remedies and options. This could provide them with the opportunity to take appropriate action and protect their rights and interests.
