Car collides with moped resulting in injuries and damages

Residents in West Virginia often see motorcycles, mopeds and bicycles frequenting the roadways during the warmer months. It is becoming more and more common for motorists to share the roadways with smaller vehicles, which makes it especially important for the drivers of the larger vehicles to be fully aware of their surroundings. Failing to check their mirrors and double check their blind spots before making a lane change or a turn could lead to a motorcycle accident. These small vehicles often cannot stand up to the impact of larger vehicles, and collisions often result in injuries and damages.

A motorcycle crash recently occurred in Fairmont. According to preliminary reports, authorities were dispatched to Locust Avenue around 1 p.m. after a station wagon collided with a moped. Authorities reported that the station wagon was pulling out of a clinic when it struck the moped.

The driver of the moped was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash but suffered injuries to his head and cuts to his face and knees. Damage was noted to the front of the moped and to the driver side door of the vehicle.

An investigation is ongoing, and no charges or citations have been issued at last report. The rider on the moped might have a cause of action regarding the injuries he suffered in the crash. Depending on the circumstances, he might be able to file a personal injury claim in order to recover compensation to cover any doctor's bills and other damages associated with the motorcycle accident.

When a negligent driver causes a collision, it can often leave an individual injured and incurring costs associated to these injuries and resulting damages. This could create serious financial burdens for the victim, and they should be aware of their options regarding a cause of action and filing a civil claim.
