Three-car crash in West Virginia leaves several injured, 2 dead

Driving is often part of an individual's daily routine. Whether it is traveling to work, home, a store or a restaurant, the roads are constantly filled with commuters and tourists in a rush to get to their destination. Depending on the time or the circumstances on the road, drivers could encounter heavy traffic teeming with negligent drivers. These drivers could cause a car accident that affects numerous individuals.

Following a multi-vehicle accident, authorities in Mercer County were dispatched to the site of the wreck to find two children were killed and several others suffered serious injuries. According to preliminary reports, the accident involved three vehicles and occurred around 6:50 p.m. on U.S. 52 in Brushfork. As a result of the crash, the road was closed for nearly three hours. During that time, emergency crews transported victims to the hospital. In addition, they cleared the road of any hazards and debris.

The investigation is still ongoing and any speculations regarding the cause have not been reported at this time. Once completed, investigators should be able to establish cause and liability. When a driver is at fault, he or she could be held liable for the resulting deaths, injuries and damages.

Those injured in these types of accidents can file a personal injury claim in an attempt to recover compensation for medical bills and other damages. The loved ones of those killed could file a wrongful death claim. This type of lawsuit could provide them with a monetary award to cover funeral costs, lost wages, pain and suffering and other damages.

During an emotionally trying time like the one following an injurious or fatal accident, a victim or his or her surviving family may not want to think about filing a lawsuit and seeking compensation. But doing so can be a strong step toward financial stability and closure. With a strong legal ally on his or her side, a a car accident victim can take some of the pressure of him or herself and know that the case is in good hands.
