Miner killed in second fatal work accident this month

Employment in certain industries can be hazardous to an employee's health and put him in extremely dangerous environments. In regions where the majority of residents work in the coal mining industry, it is crucial that employees have access to workers' compensation, in the unfortunate event of an on-the-job injury. Without workers' compensation benefits, an injured employee may not have access to lost wages and medical expenses payments. If a worker is hurt or killed while one the job, workers' compensation ultimate assists with any expenses and financial burdens the employee endures..

Unfortunately, a work accident occurred recently at a mine in Raleigh County and tragically resulted in the death of a coal miner. The accident happened while the 44-year-old miner was shoveling coal ribs. The miner was hit by a scoop, which caused fatal injuries to his body. Details surrounding the incident and the injuries suffered are not available at this time. The workplace accident is still under investigation and corporate counsel for the mining company is very concerned about the incident.

The mining company has experienced two fatal mining accidents during the month of February, and this fatal work accident is the fourth mining-related death in the state of West Virginia this year. Workplace safety is crucial in the mining industry, and the loved ones of a miner killed on-the-job could receive workers' compensation benefits. Medical bills, funeral costs, lost wages and pain and suffering could potentially be covered by the awarded compensation.

The death of a loved one who is fatally injured at the workplace can be emotional and create hardships. Not only have they lost a loved one but they could also experience financial hardships because of their death.
