West Virginia father and daughter injured in pedestrian accident

Drivers in West Virginia and residents across the nation are well aware that they not only share the road with other drivers but also, with pedestrians and bicyclists. When car accidents occur between a vehicle and a pedestrian, the damages and injuries can be gruesome. A vehicle weighs significantly more than a person, and the amount of impact does not need to be much to cause serious injuries to a pedestrian. This is why it is important to be attentive, follow posted speed limits and look both ways at an intersection or crosswalk.

A young Charleston girl and her father were in a tragic accident recently. Police indicate that a negligent driver likely caused the accident. Authorities have not released the exact details of the incident, but the two individuals are victims of a pedestrian car accident, which police indicate resulted from the driver of the vehicle failing to yield at a crosswalk. The father remembers that it was still light out when the incident occurred. Both of the victims were hospitalized due to serious injuries that resulted. The young girl suffered from several scrapes and lost two teeth. Her father tore muscles in his arm and became unconscious after the collision.

The young girl and her father are still rehabilitating from the incident. It is not clear whether the victims have accumulated medical bills, but if they have, they might be able to file a wrongful death suit. Compensation from the suit would assist not only with medical bills but also with rehabilitation, recovery, lost wages and pain and suffering.

No matter what time of day, drivers should always be on the watch for pedestrians and bicyclists, reduce their speed in local areas where they frequent yield to pedestrians at crosswalks. It is also important that drivers remain off their cellphones and avoid any distractive activities while they are driving.
