Two-car accident kills one and injures one in Fayette County

Safety on the roadways is important for residents of West Virginia and residents across the nation. Whether it is during times of heightened traffic or during times of little traffic, car accidents can occur at a moment's notice. There is a multitude of causes for an accident to happen, so it is important to be aware of posted signs. Following the speed limit is essential in accident prevention. Staying off cellphones and eliminating texting while driving can significantly reduce accidents and increase safety on the road.

Recently, a two-car accident occurred between a Dodge Neon and a utility van in Fayette County, West Virginia. A preliminary investigation revealed that the driver of the Neon was attempting to cross the southbound lanes of the highway. While making the attempt to cross the highway, the driver of the Neon crossed in front of the utility van, which struck the driver of the Neon. This car collision caused the Dodge-driver to be trapped in her car for about 20 minutes until emergency crews were able to free her. Authorities transported her to a local medical center where she later passed away due to the serious injuries that she suffered. Officials also transported the driver of the utility van to the medical center where his injuries were treated.

Investigation is still ongoing, and the exact cause of the accident is still unknown. Families of deceased individuals in fatal car crash cases like this may be able to file a wrongful death claim. A wrongful death suit could potentially assist such families with funeral costs, medical bills, lost wages and pain and suffering. In addition, individuals who suffer injuries as a result of a car accident may have a personal injury claim, which could help with any medical bills, rehabilitation, lost wages, damages and pain and suffering.

Accidents can happen in a split second, and drivers can practice certain safety measures to prevent accidents from occurring. In order to increase response time, decrease car collisions and reduce the effects of an accident, drivers should always follow the posted speed limit, follow traffic signs and avoid distracting activities like texting while driving.
